Bread Upma Recipe | How to make Bread Upma (Quick and Easy Breakfast or Snack Recipe)
Ingredients
Bread slices -- 6
Chopped onions – 1/2 cup
Chopped tomatoes – 1/2 cup
Chopped green chillies – 2
(optional)
Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves (Kadi Patta) – 5
to 6
Oil – 2 tablespoon
Lemon juice – 1/2 teaspoon
Tomato ketchup – 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves for
garnishing
Method
First of all, roughly break
the bread slices in small pieces by hands and keep aside. Heat oil in a kadai
or pan. Add mustard seeds to it and let them crackle.
Then add chopped onions and curry
leaves. Stir and sauté on a low to medium heat till onions become translucent.
Add chopped tomatoes, chopped
green chillies and saute for two minutes.
Then add little water. Mix well
and cook for another two minutes on medium heat. Mash the mixture lightly with
the help of a ladle.
Add lemon juice, tomato
ketchup, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix very well. Stir and cook on medium
heat for one minute.
Now add roughly torn bread
pieces and mix very well with the mixture to coat the bread pieces with the
masala completely. I have used multi-grain bread here, but you can use any kind
of bread you like.
Sprinkle little water on the
bread pieces. Stir everything well. Let it cook for two minutes while stirring
continuously.
Switch off the heat. Add
chopped green coriander leaves and mix everything well to get the delicious
fresh flavor. Bread Upma recipe is ready.
Serve hot as a breakfast or enjoy it
as a snack at any time of the day.
